The Mazda brand is well known for its performance vehicles, and we are thrilled to announce that we are still flourishing as a racing brand in 2019. Just recently, Mazda drivers Jonathan Bomarito and Harry Tincknell earned their third win in a row at the Road America round of the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship held Wisconsin.

According to racingnation.com, it was a “clean and green” race lasting two hours and forty minutes with very few issues. The winning Mazda car covered 83 laps (335.984 miles) in the allotted time and beat out the closest competitor, the Penske Acura model, by just .227 seconds. The race went on without any full course yellows, and the sunny, warm weather reflected the feelings of joy Mazda enthusiasts felt with the win.

According to Mazda driver Jonathan Bomarito, “It was just a flat out race, no cautions. It was managing traffic, managing rear tire wear, managing fuel numbers. And pushing like crazy the whole time trying to keep pace with Penske, build gaps in traffic.” Fans might have been biting their nails for a moment, but the race turned out well for the Mazda family.

As usual, Mazda cars have earned their right to stand among the top performance vehicles. In fact, the third-place finisher was also driving a Mazda vehicle. We can’t wait to see what the next race holds for our brand!
