Summertime can do a number on your vehicle. The increased temperatures cause your car to work harder than normal, which raises the chances of a breakdown or another issue. However, with a few quick tips, you can avoid unnecessary wear and tear on your vehicle and enjoy the weather during all of your summer travels.

Follow these tips to keep your car cool and to keep yourself cool while in the car:

  1. Ensure your AC is working. It may need a charge, hose repair, or another fix if it’s not blowing out cold air. We will happily diagnose the issue for you at our Mazda service center and make sure the AC is working properly in time for your summer travel plans.
  2. Park in the shade whenever possible — garage parking is even better! Not only does this keep your car cooler on the inside, but it protects the paint job from extreme UV rays and debris that can cause harm to it.
  3. Utilize a sunshade, window visor, or other product designed to reflect the heat off of your vehicle. If you won’t be driving your vehicle often, you may even opt for a car cover for further protection. If you’re just running into the store for an errand or something like that, a good option is to leave your windows cracked.
  4. Avoid leaving any meltable objects or plastic bottles in your car. You want to protect the interior of you car, but also your health! Plastics can break down over time when exposed to extreme heat, and it’s not safe to consume food or drinks that are exposed to those chemicals.

Our Mazda dealership is here to help with all aspects of car ownership, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions!
