During the warmer months, many drivers pack on the miles with family road trips and other summer adventures. As your summer comes to a close, we at Peruzzi Mazda hope you continue safe driving measures that account for road hazards you might encounter. To ensure you have a safe and happy journey, we’ve collected some road hazard tips for you to heed.
- Poor weather: It isn’t just ice and snow you’ll want to think about in terms of weather. During the warmer months, you’ll want to keep those windshield wipers working their best and be careful of slick roads or hydroplaning during those summer showers.
- Distractions: With Bluetooth® capabilities in most modern cars, there’s no excuse for texting or holding your phone while driving. Even worse still is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Keep your eyes on the road and monitor posted speed limits and other signage to ensure you’re driving responsibly.
- Pedestrians: If you live in the city, you might be used to pedestrians and cyclists sharing the road with you. However, you can never be too careful when you approach a school zone, or a busy intersection with crosswalks or a highly congested, heavy-foot traffic area.
- Construction: A summer staple in Pennsylvania. Always slow down when you see orange cones or signs. Construction zones can pop up on familiar routes and disrupt what is normally a routine drive.
- Potholes/debris: Pothole season is back! Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road so that you will see them and other debris before your tires and rims suffer the consequences.
