Have you had your brakes checked recently? It’s a smart idea to get them routinely checked (like each time you get an oil change) so when they are in need of service or replacement, the experts in our Peruzzi service center can help right away. And, we’ve got all the information you need about brake service and replacement below, for those who may need a refresher.

Brake Service: What and Why?

Healthy brakes are important for every vehicle, especially when it comes to driving in inclement weather or stopping in the case of an emergency. You need properly functioning brakes to keep you safe. While the lifespan of different brake pads varies from 25,000 to 70,000 miles, your vehicle manual may be able to give you a better idea of how long yours will last.

As a rule of thumb though, brakes pads should be replaced and/or serviced as needed. The occasional fluid swap may be necessary, too. When your brake pad is at or below ¼ inch, it is no longer safe. Other issues you might be having with your brakes can be identified by a number of other symptoms: difficulty braking, vibrations, growling or screeching sounds, or if your vehicle pulls to one side when you use the brakes.
