The 2018 Mazda6 has adopted the SKYACTIV®-X powertrain, which features a combustion method called Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI). It’s being called the world’s first commercial petrol engine to use compression ignition. This awesome engine option gives our customers that much more of a choice when it comes to vehicle efficiency.
To simplify that a bit, this new system features technology that combines the benefits of diesel engines (like initial response and fuel economy), but with much cleaner emissions. This optional engine technology will totally change the game for the usual Mazda lineup in our ever-continuing effort to “go green” and conserve fossil fuels.
According to carscoops.com, the model, which debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show earlier this spring, is seeing some slight visual changes to its exterior as well. The most exciting upgrades, though, are reduced noise and vibration and a broader range of i-ACTIVSENSE® safety features like a 360-degree camera system and intelligent speed assist.
