There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to start your car, only to realize your battery is dead. That’s why our Mazda service experts have put together this guide on how to jump-start your car and get you back on the road.
Equipment to Keep in Your Trunk
There are only three things you need to jump-start your car if the battery dies. Two of these you can and should keep in your trunk at all times. Firstly, you need jumper cables—the longer, the better. The second thing you need is a good pair of heavy-duty gloves for your safety. Finally, you’ll need a working vehicle to give your car a boost.
How to Jump-Start Your MAZDA Car
The connections are the most important step here. So, let’s go through each one in order:
- Attach a red connector to your battery’s positive terminal.
- Attach the other red connector to the booster car’s positive terminal.
- Attach the black connector to the booster car’s negative terminal.
- Attach the final black end to an unpainted metal part on your engine, such as a bracket.
Turn the booster car on. Then try to start your car. If it doesn’t start right away, give it a few minutes to charge up and then try again.
