If you’ve ever driven with a flat tire, you know what it feels like. It’s bumpy and you can’t steer quite right, and something is just…off. If you suspect you have a flat tire, it’s important to pull off the road somewhere safe as soon as you are able. From there, you can follow our quick guide to how to deal with a flat tire. You have a few different options:

Option 1: Call AAA or another service you may be subscribed to for roadside assistance.

Option 2: Call a tow truck.

Option 3: Call a trusted friend or family member.

Option 4: Take the situation into your own hands.

For those opting for #4, you’ll want to start by locating your spare tire, jack, and tire iron. Keep these in your car if you don’t already. After that, it’s a matter of loosening the wheel lugs, jacking up the car to about six inches off the ground, then swapping out the damaged tire for the temporary. Next, lower the car and tighten the wheel lugs so you can hit the road and make your way to our Mazda service center.

Spare tires are to be driven on carefully, slowly, and only on a temporary basis as they are not up to the quality of your typical all-season tire. As soon as you get the chance, bring your vehicle to us so we can check out the flat tire and see if it’s repairable. If it’s not, we will assist you in selecting a new one.
