The Mazda CX-5 could have a turbocharged engine? Say what? Well, according to Carscoops, that’s the rumor for the next model year of this Mazda SUV. The professionals at Peruzzi Mazda are here today to talk about what we’ve heard and to daydream about the future of this very special Mazda vehicle with you.
If you’re familiar with the current Mazda CX-5, you’ll likely want to prepare yourself for some changes for the next model year. The car saw a design overhaul back in 2016, so it’s about time for a few things to change. The biggest change we hope to see is that possibility of a turbocharged engine added.
The Mazda CX-5 GT would likely be the model that would include the ultra-powerful 2.5-liter SKYACTIV®-G engine we’ve seen in the Mazda6 and Mazda CX-9. This optional engine is ideal for performance-oriented drivers because it produces up to 250 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque when running on 93 octane fuel. That’s a significant amount greater than the current Mazda CX-5 offers in its standard form.
Another rumored improvement we might see is the addition of G-Vectoring Control Plus technology, as well as some changes to the interior like a new instrument cluster. We can’t wait to see what else Mazda engineers have come up with once this model is officially unveiled later this year.
We promise to keep you updated as we learn more about this upcoming model or any others in our large new and pre-owned Mazda inventory. We would also simply love to be the Mazda dealer you come to with all of your automotive needs, so make sure you come to us when you’re in the Fairless Hills area.
