Trim Levels (Exterior)
You can pick up a 2018 Mazda3 in one of three trims. The first trim is the Sport, a model with a 2.0-liter engine, a 7-inch touch-screen display with MAZDA CONNECT, and 16-inch wheels. The Touring comes next and adds features like a better engine, 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and automatic headlights. At the top of the range is the Grand Touring, and with this trim you get a power moonroof, a Bose sound system with nine speakers, and LED headlights and taillights.
Engine (Power)
To start things off, the 2018 Mazda3 Sport model uses a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV engine that gets 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. It also has a six-speed manual transmission with an available upgrade to a six-speed automatic that delivers 37 highway and 28 city mpg. The remaining two trims run on a 2.5-liter I-4, and this engine offers 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Both trims also come with either a manual or automatic transmission, and while the manual gets 34/25 mpg, the automatic gets 36/27 mpg.
Performance
The engines may be weaker than the average Mazda, but the 2018 Mazda3 makes the most of it thanks to its compact size and light weight. While neither engine has a built-in turbocharger, the power and efficiency of the engines mean you can still get an exciting amount of acceleration out of them. On top of that, the Mazda3 has the same excellent handling, effective suspension, and responsive steering you can find throughout the company's line.
Interior

On the sedan trims, the 2018 Mazda3 has a trunk with a 12.4-cubic foot capacity. That's plenty of room for a compact, but if you need more, the five-door hatchback has space for 20.2 cubic feet of cargo, plus 47.1 cubic feet when you fold down the back row. You'll have no problem toting around passengers or luggage.

The Mazda3 can also come with some excellent interior features, such as the dual-zone automatic climate control system with a pollen filter, the MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system with radio apps and four complimentary months of SiriusXM Radio, perforated leather seats, and a keyless entry system. It all depends on which trim you choose.

Safety Features
The list of safety features that comes with every model of the 2018 Mazda3 includes the Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control System, anti-lock brakes, six air bags, and a rearview camera. Then there are the available driver assistance features you can choose to add on, one of which is the Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert system. This is an advanced safety feature that checks your blind spots for cars and warns you when someone is there.
