Tech

The Mazda CX-9 is loaded with tech features. Push-button start, proximity keyless entry, two USB ports, Bluetooth®, voice recognition, and a user-friendly infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen are all standard in this new Mazda. You can also get Internet radio integration with Stitcher, Aha, and Pandora. The Acura MDX has some of the same features, but voice recognition isn’t available.

Space and Comfort

The Mazda CX-9 is a 3-row SUV with room for up to seven people in its standard setup. If you opt for second-row captain’s chairs instead of a bench, that capacity drops to six. The seats are very comfortable and supportive, so even long trips won’t be uncomfortable. Plus, the second row can slide backwards and forwards to allow for easier entering and exiting. And if you need to bring a lot of cargo with you, you’ll be happy to know that with both rows folded, you will have 71.2 cubic feet of space. The Acura MDX also seats seven in its three rows, but the headroom shrinks the further back you go, until the third row is best reserved for children. As for cargo space, with both back rows down this Acura SUV only offers 68.4 cubic feet of storage.

Safety

Mazda vehicles are renowned for their safety, and every Mazda CX-9 comes with numerous advanced features. These include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. You will find similar safety features in the Acura MDX, but if you want blind spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert, you will need to upgrade. Plus, pedestrian detection isn’t available at all.
